Training

Deciding what to train and when is pretty hard to do. Giving advice to others is even harder. So , I will not even try to do that. What I can do, is compare some of the fighters I know, and look at how they have trained. In the Top Ten, there is a wide variety of skills and paths. Not one fighter is like the other one. They may have changed their training path some, but here is a general list on some of my fellow fighters. They are all lean, mean killing machines. What is interesting is to see how they have chosen to get there.

Gurgi - The ultimate brick. Can brick anything save for Orga Hatreds and Greater Deaths. Also is one of Atkus most esteemed students. His defense is based on Detha, even if all those lessons in atkus, darkus etc. also provides some balthus. He has sacrificed his swings on the way, and has last I spoke with him, only 2 swings. His troilus is as mine, just enough to get white while running from GMV to town.

Blitz - Dropped Detha as a mentor for defense, and chose balthus instead. Has 4 swings, high darkus and atkus, and slightly more troilus than Gurgi. Very balanced fighter, and can still brick an Orga Frenzy. Is also a student of Rodnus. Can hit most everything out there, and deals quite the blow.

Urgelt -Is different from the others in that he has really high troilus, and also loads of Evus trainings. His atkus and darkus is a bit lower than the rest because of that, but he is generally white under most circumstances, even surrounded.

Ziff Rengar - Has absolutely no troilus at all. Zip, nada nothing, and require a healer wherever he goes. Has as Urgelt trained a lot with Evus, and is going for 4 swings. Is also one of Atkus most esteemed students. Wants to be one of Histia´s most devoted students too.

You can view these four as representatives of four completly different paths. Defense, attack, self-healing and stamina - even if they cross over here and there.

As for myself, I chose 3 swings - so I had to train sligthly more Detha than Blitz for example. I also chose to be a dancer, not a bricker as Gurgi. I can brick an Orga Frenzy, but not as the main brick. I´m useful in situations where the main brick needs to back off and get some healing for example, as a backup. My main focus is to be able to hit anything that moves, and to deal some damage to it as well. And, I have chosen to be able to do that from front, so training in the fell-blade is out, for now at least. I have sacrificed my regeneration time on the way, but will correct it sometime. The latter means that I tend to get hit a lot, as the "hit-window" the beasties have on me is wider than usual. It also means that small critters are a pain in the neck.

I went for atkus early on, as I saw atkus to be a key-opener to many areas that was previously closed to me. I have just enough troilus to get healthy after a meeting with a pack of vermines, but have chosen to get Rodnus instead. Troilus is of no use to me at this stage, as everything I learn from deals much more damage than I would ever be able to remedy with troilus lessons. On the other hand, at the early stages I would have been better off with more troilus, as I spent a lot of time solo-hunting, and used more time in safe areas self-healing, than those with more.

I have some skea, just enough to skin the vermines in my way, but mostly I am a devoted fighter. 95% of all my lessons is in fighter-skills.

I have always trained for the next big beastie on my list. At this time, there are only two left - to be able to hit the Orga Hatred regularly, survive more than two hits from it - and to be able to solo the Orga Frenzy. My trainings now is with those two in mind, although I am not as inpatient as I used to be. So, I will probably go the Evus route to get there. With Rodnus, I can now take more lessons from Histia, without feeling guilty over healers spending a lot of time trying to heal me.
